Alternative to Roku for BTSport

In the summer I got my elderly dad a Roku Express so he could watch BT Sport and Sky Sports (on a NOW TV Sports pass).
Everything worked fine and he became quite adept at switching from normal TV to his "Sports gadget".
Until Monday, when the BTSports app did an update and now refuses to play live TV.

He gets a VC011 error which according to BT's (rubbish) website is a connection issue. iPlayer, NowTV and YouTube all play fine, so its not a connection issue.

Spoke to BT who have now told me that Roku have stopped supporting the BTSport app. Brilliant! That's the reason I bought the thing in the first place.

So...any recommendations for what to replace it with? I need something similar to a Roku remote that a 92 year old can use without too much difficulty.

I think the fire stick has works with both now and by sport.

I feel like it certainly did a couple of years ago…

recently had a similar issue with BT sport via Now TV device, we now stream via amazon 4k stick, works flawlessly, hope this helps
