Amp Recommendation

Afternoon,
I've just rediscovered a pair of Mission 702e's I had in the attic We recently bought a 49inch Sony TV and I'm thinking of pairing them with the TV but I don't have an amp.

I'm not keen on spending the earth but would like a decent quality 2 channel amp - happy to buy second hand.

We also have an xbox so i imagine something with an optical in would be ideal.

Any thoughts/suggestions?

I have had a Marantz PM 6004 for about 8 years and has been absolutely flawless.... So I'd recommend either PM6003, PM6004, PM6005, or PM6006.. They're all great value amplifiers and you should easily find a nice used one...!

Another suggestion if you end up buying new would be the Yamaha RN-303D from somewhere like Richer Sounds. It’s a great amp, well made and sounds good. It also features a DAB radio too and has the optical input you’re after. They’re £299 so pretty well priced.

I too will recommend the Marantz, but go PM6005 or newer as they have optical in and built in DAC.

Regularly sell on eBay around the £200 mark. I recently bought one for a 2nd system and it looks and works like new.

E-bay, high end Cinema amps are a bargain and can usually be switched to 2Ch operation.

I’ve just put a Loxjie A30 into this kind of application and very pleased with it.

Has a sub out too.
