SkyQ recordings
Discussion
Does SkyQ work if you don’t have an active subscription?
If obtaining approval for a new Sky disk is going to be difficult, I wonder whether we will just settle for BT TV, as you can now get the full Sky Sports Package (my priority) as well as other Sky channels (Sky Atlantic, Sky Cinema via ‘NOW’).
Is there anything significant that Sky offers that can’t be replicated with BT TV?

Take your viewing card out and find out if it still works lol
I believe if you don't have a SkyQ subscription you will lose the recording functionality and probably playback features and access to non-Freeview channels.
I think the live channels are done over the dish but all the recordings etc are accessed via the internet so it might not work, switch off your WiFi and see what functionality remains.

I think with a Sky Q subscription, Sky owns the hardware so if you cancel your subscription, you'll have to return the box (along with all your recordings).
That is certainly the case with my subscription.
I assumed that once you were through the contract term, the equipment was yours - I guess I need to check the small print! That is certainly the case with my subscription.
