I’ve been a happy user of eetv since it’s launch. Decent pvr unit, able to simultaneously record multiple channels, access to YouTube, Netflix and Amazon prime, about £5pcm extra on top of broadband.

However all stops at the end of the month.. ;(

Not a fan of Sky, and BT offer not overly compelling, plus I would need to swap to BT broadband, pain of installing new Wi-fi router etc, plus not keen on changing broadband whilst all working from home!

Stand-alone PVRs such as Humax don’t seem to get rave reviews..

Any suggestions?

I hear good things about the BT TV box, we had one 7 years ago and it was good. Since then been with a Humax Freesat box which is now very clunky but has lasted well and the interface is quite nice.

The new ones look good:-

In terms of changing router, could you keep old router and use BT purely as a modem? Saying that, my BT router is brilliant. Really strong signal, even down to my cabin at the end of my garden.

Just read Humax are no longer doing freesat boxes which is a blow for us.

Have a look at the new Humax Aura & the Manhatten T3-R. The Aura has some streaming services built in but not all & there are mixed reports given a number of bugs with the new device. The Manhatten is a bit limited with number of simultaneous record & replay channels.

It might be worth having a read through this. I ended up buying the Manhatten which is a good no frills PVR....but I stress the no frills part!
