Plasma TV love

Just curious, does anyone still have one?

I always find myself sitting in front of my trusty old Pioneer Kuro instead of my Sony HDR OLED on movie nights. I just find the image to be warmer, richer and a bit more natural, or is it just me?

It gets nearly as hot as our radiators but I'm loathe to get rid of it!

Panasonic GT30 watcher here!

Love the warm visuals of the plasma screen, and will be heartbroken when it gives up. Mainly because it will mean my 3D bluray collection would be pointless

Still using a 50 inch 8th generation Kuro. Also still have a second generation 43 inch with the separate media box. Not used anymore but still works. Bought that in 2003
The newer OLED TV are incredible for some things but just not as natural as the plasmas. The thing I notice most is that programs made in a studio look like they are in a studio. Something like it’s a bit to real that it doesn’t allow you to feel that is is not a studio setting.

Still have a plasma (VT30). Still looks great.

It’s on the cards for replacement, modern OLED etc look very very good to me.

Turn off interpolation. It’s on as default but has that effect. In fact turn off all processing and use film maker mode. The picture is then far more pleasing to the eye.

Bought my current Panasonic plasma just after my son was born, he is now 17! Still works fine.

I had a 37" Panasonic plasma years back, probably not a patch on the Kuro and (back then) top plasma sets.

Always liked it but it weighed a ton and got hot as hell.

Got an LG OLED now and whilst I'm not sure what words I'd use around "warmth" if you feed it a good source it's the best picture I've ever seen in my life.

Go in and turn off all image and movement/sport settings. It's as simple as that. You are ssing the results of some sort of motion smoothing.

Yes still have a Panny VT65 as main TV and a VT30 it replaced in the bedroom.

Keep waiting to upgrade to the top spec Panny OLED every year but seems they still lagging with tech to be future proof.

Even their latest Z95 still will only come with 2 2.1hdmi ports.

I'm in no rush though as the VT65 still looks very good.

We still use our trusty Calibrated VT65 in our kitchen/dinner as our main TV, do have a couple of OLEDs around the house but the VT65 is the go to.

The old man still prefers his KURO to anything else.

Would still be using my KURO if the HDMI port did not get mangled.
Very cinimatic viewing experience.

Arguably my LG OLED is technically better, but have a soft spot for my old plasma.

Pioneer PDP434 still in use here, bought new in 2004.

Relegated to garage use now as the misses was trying to get it thrown out. Paid £4.5k for it at the time, not binning it!

Bought 2005/6 or so. Still serving games room duty where it runs Nintendo Switch, movies, streaming etc. A great TV....though the Sony OLED AF9 that replaced it finally beat it for picture quality.

My Panasonic plasma refuses to die and is still pleasing to the eye.

Built in Freesat is handy for foreign language channels.

My 44ins Panny has been and still is my only telly. Great picture and useful in winter as my lounge gets so cold

I always put the old tv in a bedroom.

I've had two generations, Not a plasma but an Philips LCD I bought in about 2001/2 from Curry's when I had disposable income. It's moved from main tv to bedroom to now being in the garage. Then I bought one of the original Samsung thin screens thats still going.

No HD was actually being broadcasted on the Philips so it was useless for a few years, first content was Sky HD when it had football on once every so often.
