Hi all, I'm trying to help out a friend at the moment. He is moving out to Thailand from the UK in March/April and will be looking for work once he's moved over and has settled in. He has recently just completed a 2.5 year contract for a large CPG company in London and has experience in many other industries (10 years of Proj/Prog Management contracts).

He would be looking for a new contract or a perm position as a Programme Manager in either Thailand/Singapore/KL or Hong Kong.

Ideally if someone was looking to hire a new programme manager then please get in contact but any advice would be really appreciated...

Cheers,

Tom

No idea on his industry sector (i am same title but in IT Infra)

Some websites to look at though, not sure how much work there is in Thailand or how well it pays, but Malaysia and Singapore certainly would have stuff going.

Lots of work is found through linking to contacts, linkedin.com is used a lot when sourcing people.

He is also in IT Infrastructure - VPN, WAN Infrastucture, Datacentre moves etc etc..

He also has a critical/major three year Service Management project under his belt (HP/Peregrine)

All of his experience is with major Telco, CPG, Banking and Information/Media Organisations.

Is there much out there for someone like him?

Cheers - Tom

Its limited and mostly based on your network of contacts, having said that the Datacenter work is fairly plentyful and the banking sector is also picking up, but due to generally piss poor local HR many companies tend to just move people out from Europe / America without even bothering to look locally ... hence the need for a good network of contacts.

Both Cathay Pacific & Singapore Airlines have major IT programmes on at the moment. So, yes, there are jobs out there.

Would he consider a fixed term contract?
Might be able to assist, if he would work in HK.

He would be fully prepared to work in HK - how would you like to proceed?

Having spoke to him again just now, he is happy with a fixed term contract.

I'm not a recruiter either, but we are always on the lookout for good people.

Question is - Tom are you are recruiter? or will you send the candidate direct.
Not interested if your trying to place a candidate.

Is the Sing Air one paying over 200 Sing, and do you get to know the air hostesses?

Yes I am a recruiter, however in this instance I'm doing a favour for a friend so i'm not going to be looking for usual margins. I'd be more than happy to negotiate a lower rate than usual to get a good deal done for all involved.
