Welcome to the mad house to both Bing-o and Xaero.
I only live 2 stops on the metro away from the ANA Intercon (I also know the general manager quite well...) so if you are up for a beer next time you are over, let me know. I know some nicer places than Roppongi - depending on what you are looking for, of course
Xaero - are you over for long?

Glen - I'm here for a year (working holiday visa). I have a job in Fukushima now though so am out of Tokyo, only spent one night there
When I get paid I might make a weekend trip back down to Tokyo though, what places do you recommend in Roppongi? I didn't go before, just wandered around Akihabara.

I'm off to Tokyo tomorrow for a week with work and staying in the ANA Intercon too.
I've got a few days spare as well. Any must see and do's?

Hi All
Roppongi is good fun but things are quite a lot quieter than they have been as a lot of the ex-pats have moved to Hong Kong, Singapore or Shanghai. Places to go there include Propaganda and 57. A971 in Midtown is also good too. The Thai and Filipino crowd are getting more aggressive about getting people in for massages and that is in addition to the Nigerians touting for bars.
As for must sees & dos: Harajuku and Omotosando for the people watching/shopping. Find a izakaya for raw chicken salad in Shibuya. Neon and the Kabukicho entertainment district as well as Golden Gai in Shinjuku. Maids and maid bars in Akihabara. Sushi almost anywhere but not on a Sunday. Go on to the helipad on the roof of Roppongi Hills at dusk to watch the city light up. Take a river trip from Odaiba up to Asakusa and then wander round the temple area. Finally, a late night in Ginza watching the salarymen falling out of the bars is always entertaining too....
I'm always up for a beer or 3....
