Bangkok on a budget?

So just booked our flight from Vietnam to Bangkok. Land on the 27th and have until the 17th of July to fill. Planning on going up towards the Burma border and see the River Kwai and the Tiger Temple but if anyone has any ideas of anything else worth seeing on a budget and any cheap hotels i would love to hear them.

Missus just got back from a shopping trip to Bangers, seems that there are some fantastic discounts there .....
