SWMBO has come up with an idea of a little road trip to Pangkor Island in a few months time.

Looks like quite a nice trip, blat up the N/S to KL for an evening then some scenery to Lumut (there is a great little Italian / Malaysian blend restaurant in Lumut too ... ) and on the ferry to Pangkor.

Now my one concern is the ferry to Pangkor. Is it more designed for honda cubs, protons and ford rangers or will i be able to get the porker onto it without grounding out and being left high and dry!

Can't find much info currently but will continue to google!

Also - any spots recomended for stop-over north of KL on that route?

No never done it, but my mate has, he is out of the country this week I'll ask him about the ferry when he gets backa at the weekend. I do know he went upo on his bikew ith the wife on the back planned to stay 3 days but left after one as there was nothing to do.
Obvios places on the way up are ganting and camerron highlands and frasers hill, all have good driving roads up to them. The NS high way is boring the only good bit is the hills and bends just North of Ipoh, but thats only any good on a bike, on a car you get bogged down with the other traffic,

Have a suspission that she is actually looking at Pangkor Laut and not twigged that it is a differnet island so will see!

If it's anything like the ferry to Koh Samui don't do it! I was in a LWB Landcruiser and it was scary enough!

And rural Malaysia is SOOOO much better! wink

If it were me, I'd want to hear some first hand experience before risking it, you're not going to want to leave the old girl parked up if you can't get her across!

There is secure parking at the Navy Yacht Club just down the road from the ferry terminal at Lumut, know people there so that's not an issue. Just never been there by road before so never looked at the ferry!!

Ahh not so bad if you know you've somewhere safe to park in the event you can't get her on the ferry.

by "over there" you mean on pangkor island itself or actually on the mainland there?
