Moving to Singapore
Discussion
I will be moving to Singapore in October, loads of questions, but the one on my mind right now is about mobile phones..
Im currently on T Mobile, using a G1. Would this be suitable to take as it is for local singapore calls? If not, could I use the G1 on a local network out there? Is it worth buying a cheap unlocked mobile (nokia 6300?) to use on a local network?
Anyone use a dual sim mobile so can flick over when back in the UK?
Thanks, and apologies if this is a bit mobile phone specialist type question.
P.S Snowboarding and Waterskiing.. anyone done either in Singa?

ello ... been out here off and on for about 10 years now!!!
I would not use a UK mobile roaming out here, you will get shafted on costs!!
Singapore has a very modern mobile network, as does most of SE Asia, so all the services you are used to and more will be available out here.
Get a phone on Singtel, can get one with a monthly bill but no contract (Sim only), PAYG or a Contract. All services are available whichever way you go. you can also get the 019 service which for a $5 monthly subscription fee allows you to make international calls for pennies.
Phones become cheep here after 3 months as they are then "old hat"
not much by way of skiing here but there is http://www.snowcity.com.sg/snowcity2/index.html an indoor ski slope.
Also waterskiing and wake boarding is done from Ponggol (North East) and Raffles Marina (far west)
ohh and not to put you off but a Golf GTI here ...

there is also a place called Ski360 where you can go wake boarding / water skiing on a sort of ski lift.
Things to remember with cars here, they do not depreciate in the same way as the UK and if you are selling it within 5 years of new to export then you will get 75% of the tax rebated to you. Hence why not many old cars on the road here!
