Is there any trouble in BKK from the red T shirt brigade.
Not been much on news here.
I am heading back over in May to my place in Pathum Thani (however its spelt) and was hoping it had all calmed down by then. Is there any activity around the airport?

Most recent news was the protest breaking through the barricades at the summit and getting up to the conference centre. It seems a petition has been handed over and it's expected that most, if not all, protestors will leave the area today (Sat). Mind you, the summit has been postponed (again) so no doubt there will be repeated action some other time. China, Japan and South Korea foreign ministers have all buggered off.

There have been several road blockades over the last few days but, in my limited experience, traffic was as normal smile

The Government Office is still surrounded.

At the moment the stance from the government seems to be let the protests continue with minimal heavy-handedness from the security services.

There is no reported activity at the airport at all.

Rode back from Puket bike week to KL on Sunday/Monday, most of the road junctions had road blocks set up, most were not manned, saw no trouble at all, in fact the border gaurds appeard to be 'nicer' than normal.
I'd go back to S Thailand with no worries not so sure about Bankok

Hi Panthro i did 2 years in Pattaya i worked out at Map Ta Phut but lived alongside Mapratchan lake (East Pattaya), very nice and fairly peaceful out there, but if you needed "crazy" at the weekend then it wasnt far away. I was working a 4 days on 4 days off rota, was very good for getting away and visiting different parts of the country. Enjoy your time there.

Are you in the oil and gas business? Im working in Laem Chabang, but living on beach road in pattaya, at the north end. Its certainly crazy when you want it to be! Luckily my place is just outside the crazy zone! Loving it so far, trying to see as much of the country as I can see.
4 days on 4 days off sounds great! Im not so lucky, 54 hour weeks with standard UK holiday time frown Hopefully next year when I move to Aus for the second phase Im doing 56 days on 18 off smile

Just moved to Jomtien, missing my Tuscan but I dont think it would last long in the heat and the roads are very poor in Jomtien at the moment.

Sort of, but not Phu My Hung, i used to work in Phu My which is a hamlet of Ba Ria Vung Tau, where we commissioned and operated a new gas fired power plant for BP a few years ago now.

Ah Vung Tau I know it quite well and have a few clients there, used to hate getting on that little ferry though, one was never totally sure if it was going to make it! My job for the last few years has basically been following you O&G around the world, worst place being Sakhalin Island.
