OK I have a couple of Lotus 7 style race cars (and the parts to build more if anyone is interested), which run European engines, and I'm not much interested in Jap engines, largely because it is difficult to find axils and gear boxes to run them, as front engine rear drive. But all Ford engines fit all Ford gear boxes, (within reason), so it appears that the new style engines from the Ford Puma mate up to old Ford rear drive gear boxes and axils. I’m told that these Ford engines are run in some Mazda’s models, so will be easier to source in Asia.
So does anyone know the Mazda Model numbers, that run the 1.8 and 2,5 KLDE KLZE engines?
I want to get ‘half cuts’ from Japan, and I know that the old gear boxes and axils may struggle with the power, but these are easy and cheap to source and change.

probably 323 and MX5's ... but afraid that thats about where my interest and knowledge of mazda's stop too .....
i know that some of the proton's use mazda bits too ....
eta much as i would love to take you up on the inferred offer of a 7 type, they are all not approved for road use in singa ... bastids.
although we get atoms in easter!!

Thanks for reply John, 323's and MX5 are 4 pots, and not ford based, Protons used Mitubishi, in fact they are old mitubishies!!
I'm building 7's for the track, if you want one I have one fully race ready for hire, be around 2,000 sing for a weekend, of 2 races practice and qualifying, with tyre and petrol included. Pay your own entry fee.
Car wont win but is reliable and great for inexperienced racer.

Sorry, had not realised that you were looking for a lunp with an extra 2 pots ...
With Singa road taxes, i am afraid that i have no knowledge of big engined mazda's.
BTW proton definitely had licence to a few Mazda's too including mid 90's 323 hatchbacks etc.
Cheers for the hire offer, but the RS is more than enough of an animal for me on track days, still tries to rip my head off on a regular basis!!!
