Hi,

I know it's a long shot, but I wish to trace my long lost sister who left home many years ago due to a parental/family dispute. I have been given an old address, but there's no certainty she still lives there (*).

I have fired off an email to the Registrar and Electoral Office asking if they could track my sister name on their electoral list. Not sure if they can help, but worth checking.

Are there any other HK public records available that I could search myself, something equivalent to 192.com which we have in the UK?

I feel the last resort will be to hire a local PI, but I would like to explore all options first before doing so.

Thanks

  • I am in the UK, otherwise I would go to the address myself!

what is the address (Just building / street, i assume it's an apartment block) , and how long ago? People (expats) tend to move around a fair bit

There are a Few Ph'ers in Hong Kong, and i know a few people there too

Thanks guys for the kind offer, but I wouldn't impose on you.
I was hoping I could do some preliminary online research before I head back end of this month.

Thanks again.

Small update:

I am happy to report that we are now back in touch with my sister. I am absolutely over the moon!!!
After > 40 years of self-exile, she finally plucked up courage to return home (our village) in search of us, but only found our Cousin and so left her telephone number for us. My brother has spoken to her and report back that she is well and healthy. Once travel condition permits, all my brothers, sisters + kids will be flying back to HK for a huge family reunion which I suspect will be pretty emotional..

That's a nice story, made my day, and it's nice to see a thread that the op posted a conclusion on.
