Shipping a car from Hong Kong to the UK
Discussion
Last year I picked myself up a nice M5 with very low mileage and a good spec. The car is pretty low value here in HKG and I am keen to take it back to the UK for when I eventually move back in the next two years. I am sure this has been on here before but can't find the threads - does anyone have any experience of this or any advice to offer? Many thanks in advance.
you can stick it on a RoRo or in a container to ship, thats easy ....
i believe if you have owned the car yourself for over a year there is no import duty to be paid either so its just the cost of re-registration.
But if you get the paperwork sorted out up front you will be able to drive it straight out of the customs yard on its honky plates then get it UK registered within the time limit whatever that is.
M Car should be UK compliant from new anyway ..
