Which area of KL for AirBNB?
Discussion
I might be hanging around KL for two or three weeks & I'm looking at using AirBNB. There seem to be a bunch of apartments near the Towers (or within a few minutes walk). Can any PHers kindly advise if this a good area to be staying in? If not, where should I look at?
If I don't succeed with AirBNB it will have to be a hotel so any suggestions would also be appreciated.

So I googled it looks like a home stay thing, so I'd recommend you not to use it in KL, most apartments do not allow owners to short term rent, the block I own in which is by the twin towers will refuse you admittance unless the owner is with you, and will not allow you use of pool, gym etc. Loads of budget hotels around
There are two different types of apartment, serviced and condominium, ask them what they have, serviced is OK for short rent. For that money I would suspect a condominium it is strictly illegal but you may get away with it. 30 pounds gets a decent hotel. PM me if you need more info or a beer
As Berw said, Malaysia, And asia in general, is very regulated on this stuff.... for example, in Thailand its illegal for a "non hotel" operator to do lets of less than 3 months, and you run the risk of police and immigration descending on you - one to be careful of when renting a Vila, make sure its operated by a licensed mob, else you can get caught up in an owner vendetta.
In Singapore its basically been so outlawed, that its all but non-existant for less than 6 months also, so I imagine that KL will be no less of a pain in the arse...
Go with a hotel, especially if you are on business and don't need the stress.
AirB&B is a great concept that steps on too many important wealthy peoples businesses and ego's out here.

Joining this late, but I've AirBNBed many times in Malaysia without issue (I'm local BTW). I wouldn't let any of the above put you off (with all due respect to Berw and John). That being said, KL hotels are pretty cheap (even at the upper end of the market), so definitely worth considering!
Star just reported that there are bylaws in Penang and AirBNB is considered illegal, KL the position is unclear but the local authorities require any one offering AIrBNB to register.
As I said in my condo short term rental you can't get into the gym, tennis or squash court, and security will request you to leave the pool area.

Singapore is doing a big public consultation right now to set the ground rules / clamp down on AirBnB type lets (and especially sub-lets)

Our condo has just recently had a few interesting AirBnB cases, one where an AirBnB'er turned up with all their paperwork to a very confused existing tenant who had been living there for at least a year, turned out that the previous tenant had listed the property, taken a booking and the money.
another one was what was a mistaken "bike theft" when security caught them acting "suspiciously" on CCTV, turned out that the key to the condo was kept in a toolbox locked to a bike in the carpark with a combination lock.
in both cases these were tenants subletting without the landlord / property owners knowledge or consent also.
