Hi all,

I've managed to land myself in Bangkok for a while and thinking about trying to find something permanent here. I'm in IT - a dev/dev manager (hands on).

Anyone here got any suggestions for recruiters to talk to about the current market here?

Or anyone fancy a beer? beer

Very slim chance, there are very few companies hiring foreigners like that, the work permit approval process is slow and there are plenty of Thai's that can do the role.

If you are going to look the only companies likely to hire you are as follows ...

Agoda
Amadeus
Accenture

There are basically no international banks here, and the Thai banks only hire Thai's.

You will be doing well to get over B200,000 a month, and will more than likely get slapped in the face with a B120,000 a month offer.

Sorry to be pessimistic, but its not a good expat hiring market for IT here, hence why i am heading south again!

PM me if you want a list of a few IT recruiters to contact.

Thanks XJSJohn. When you say moving south, do you mean south in Thailand (so are there more jobs in Hua Hin/Phuket), or to Singa?

All the way south, Singa, or maybe KL, as there is a lot of banking back office there these days.

Sod all in Hua Hin, Samui, Phuket etc unless you are a "digital nomad" or "blogger" .....

Grab a beer next week if you fancy ... i am off to Hua Hin tomorrow for the weekend, back in Bangers on Monday.
