Short Holiday somewhere in SE Asia - Ideas

Need a break from same same but different and looking for ideas for somewhere to go.

Want some relaxing but also some activities, so somewhere sort of like Chang Mai where plenty of daft stuff to do like rafting, jungle hikes as well as a few temples and shops (but not Chang Mai as hotter than hell there right now.... )

Was thinking Vietnam maybe, but don't realy know the country well, so any suggestions for a good spot for some fun as well as some chilling out for a couple to stay for 4 or 5 days ....

Or any other ideas? Ideally outside Thailand.

I am feeling uninspired, hence why I need a break!

Some friends of mine recommend Laos for relaxing/activity holidays that aren't too strenous. Especially tubing down the river from bar to bar getting drunk. Haven't been myself but something to look into.

Pokhara, Nepal. More activities than you could shake your zimmer frame at. Stunning mountains, good beer and reasonable pizza
