Don't know about Bankok but my experience of S E Asia is you will be very lucky to get good advice, they sell on look and size, the bigger and more bling the better, Be carfull of local wheels some are poor quality, but the big issue is the weight, (JRD the Malaysian wheels are incredably heavy), they are made of low grade metal and are very thick. Good advice is you will get what you pay for, I have a contact in Chian whp will make wheels to your spec, his quality is great, and I know a few people who use him to build race whhels, he can only do over 17 inch due to his equipment.

Thanks for response.....

Agree with your sentiments. I am fairly confident that Lenso have suitable wheels in their range so probably just a matter of finding suitable dealer who can supply. I just wanted an open spoke design to change over the "fussy" and difficult to clean standard units.

Just had some wheels made in UK for my race Caterham but would be interested to know of your guy as need another set for a Westfield.

He can't do Caterham wheels, I tried to get him to do some 13 inch R500 wheels for my Caterham but they only do 17 and above, What Caterham and Westfield you got and where? I have a Sylva here in KL with a 450BHP Nissan in it, a 1300cc locost, and I am currently building a Caterham 1700 super sprint for classic racing at Sepang, If you want caterham bits llet me know we have aguy in Malysia who has the body molds.

Depends on budget really, but I can think of about 20 places in Bangkok off the top of my head for wheels.

Your biggest concern should be if they're genuine or fake.

As mentioned, be careful of fakes that are poor quality manufacture.

I suppose for a BT50 (pick up) lightweight is not such a big thing.

Not sure I agree on the fakes, which is why I said look at the quality as a generality, pm'd you a contact in china will build you a fake, but good quality, while jrd sell as jrd and they are rubbish.

Fakes are very much a worry. I could show you one area here in Bangkok tomorrow with at least 30 stores selling fake Work, advan, TE37's etc all made in Taiwan and China.

Thailand also has a large allow wheel manufacturer presence here too.

If you want 3 piece splits I also have a contact in China for those.

Drop me a pm.

Yes but you also agree there are good manufactures in china, so you can't just say fakes/chinese are rubbish, some can be ok, while some brands, (I keep saying jrd) are also rubbish.

I completely concur with what you're saying, and I didn't mean for my post to come across as saying all fakes come from China, because you and I both know that isn't the case. Sorry mate.

Seems like my original question was a mute point anyway......

The wheels were intended for use on a vehicle in Australia. However wheels sold in Thailand are not the correct offsets for the intended vehicle so nothing available and explains why most aftermarket wheels are hanging outside the guards. You would last about 5 minutes in Australia before the police pulled you over!

Thanks anyhow.
