Caught with expired 'shaken' in Japan ...
Discussion
Went for a drive the other day, crossed some double lines as I was turning left.
Got stopped by the police, fair enough ... but while they were writing the ticket they discovered that my
car's 'shaken' ( MOT ) had expired almost half a year ago.
I blame myself entirely for this oversight, I thought it expired at the end of this year, not last year.
I should have checked properly but somehow never did.
I have to go back to the police this Sunday to be questioned.
Anyone knowledgeable as to the consequences of this balls up?

Good news!!
After being questioned a second time today, I was kindly told to be more careful in the future regarding keeping my 'shaken' up to date, was handed the original fine of 6000 yen for the left turn and was politely let out in the sunshine outside Kojomachi police station.
All in all an educational day

Both shaken and stirred in this case
My Japanese was fine but they automatically provide an interpreter for non-Japanese anyway.
We ended up doing most of the talking in Japanese with the occasional clarification in English.
No Swedish interpreter could be found for this Swede appearantly.
Time to take my Midget to the testing centre....
