Any advise guys ? 15 mins from downtown is fine, budget is $4k (US) for a single room. Can do a double $8k but it needs to have en-suite.

Need to find something before Saturday. Checked Frasier,Citadines and Ascot as advised here but either out of budget or nothing available.

To be honest, your budget is a bit low for here ...

Try contacting a few hotels directly that have rooms for less than $200 a night and see if they will do a 1 month deal.

The roxy mercure In parkway arcade may be able to do something, but you will be using taxi's that will drive costs up.

Also may find one of the boutique hotels around Chinatown that may be able to help.

Orchard, newton etc unlikely, as you can't even rent a 1 bet flat on a 2 year contract for that budget!

The roxy I mentioned is halfway down east coast, there may also be stuff in Joo Chiat. To be honest it's an area that I have not looked at that much .

Be carefull of some of the chalets and resorts on east coast, some of them are truly dire, check on tripadvisor before committing.

You will be spending from $15 each way in taxi from east coast (rising in peak hours).

found this site that has a fair few listed including a few away from CBD that should be a bit more affordable

Reputable company also.

And rather spookily, there is an advert banner on here right now for this

Hi - there are some brand new serviced apartments up near Payar labar mrt called 'Edelweis' - mix of studios and one bedders.

A friend of mine here recommends them - her colleagues stay there for 1+ months project work.

the cost is a LOT less than CBD options .. works out around $2600 - $3000 per month. The units and development are brand new and has a pool and gym. you can get into town in about 15 minutes on the mrt.

I was considering using one as a stop gap between long-term accomodation.

I'll see if I can find a link

Alfaman thnx, I've been busy ! Managed to get an apartment at Roberts Quay (Riverside Village) part of the Far East Hospitality group.

They put me up there as the 1 bed is not available yet, so have a 2 bed until next week when I move to their Central Park location.

SGD$7K/ month.

John - Thnx for the links too, found an estate agent through a family friend who is here for a year.

If you need any support searching for a condo .. the agent I used when I moved here 2 years ago is good and helpful [no cost to you ...] or feel free to PM me. FYI rents here are now on the way down .. be aware that as a new arrival from Europe .. the 'asking price' rents you are shown could be 10%-15% above the 'real market' .. I had this when I was searching around to start , some landlords think they can take the piss with asking prices for westerners , no harm in asking for a 2nd opinion smile
