Singapore Airlines excess baggage charge
Discussion
So it appears I'm in for a £1200 to £3k bill for excess baggage by SA judging by their £31 per kg excess baggage charge.
I don't mind paying for things however this seems a tad excessive!
Anyone with experience of how strict they are likely to be?
We have 4 large cases and a medium sized one. Flight is London to Singapore.
Thanks

Keep each bag below 34kgs, or they will refuse (in my experience).
I flew cattle class with SQ when I moved over here, amazingly they let me check-in 40kgs in total FOC.
You could upgrade to Business, I think they will give you 40kgs then (and maybe a little more). This could be a cheaper option.

In my experience SQ are not that strict - just got back from the Maldives with around 26kg of checked in diving gear , plus carry on.
Your other option with many airlines is to air-freight the excess ahead of the flight - this is much cheaper than the additional cost of excess baggage on the flight. [though you will need an extra trip to the airport ]

We were more than a little over approx, 60kg over in total, they allowed us an additional 20kg and then stung us £1236 for the rest! A little frustrating with their service and classic arrogant British customer service approach but rules are rules I guess so sucked it up and paid it!
