Evening/Morning All,

So by way of update I accepted the role, signed the contract and booked the flights last week, arrive into Sing on the 29th December.

So having completed 50% of my tasks (booked the flights) I now need to do the other half to keep SWMBO happy, namely arranging somewhere to live.

My company will pay for a serviced apartment for the first month - so any recommendations, somewhere central to start would be good, Orchard Rd, Clarke Quay sort of area.

Thanks,
Rich

St Regis or the ones at Robertson Quay (Frazer Place / Riverside View) are probably the best / most commonly used that i know of but Mandarin Oriental and the Pan Pac also have good offerings.

Congratulations and welcome to Singapore!!! have to catch up for a beer in the NY

This is another very central one - Wilkie edge is at the junction of Sophia road and Middle road - just off bottom of Orchard, very convenient as Dhoby Ghaut MRT [central MRT junction for Singapore ]is just round the corner..

. just about everything is within 2-3 MRT stops of DG , clarke quay is a 10 minute walk [1 stop]

I stayed in this Citadines earlier in the year for a week.
Quite frankly that was a few days too long.

There's nothing wrong with the place itself, it's just the location isn't very good.
There's nothing within easy reach for dinner or drinks, it's a schlep to the MRT etc etc.

For my next trip I moved to The Ascott Hotel... a slightly smaller apartment for the same cost as Citadines, it's 3 minutes walk from the MRT and has its own bar etc.

I'll be staying there again next month when I'm in town.

Is that the Ascott near Raffles and 'Satay street' ?

..You found the 5 min or so walk up Selegie road to DG from Wilkie a bit much in the humidity ? Agree .. you need to walk 5 mins ish to reach Plaza Singapura or the eateries around The Cathay from the Wilkie [and Ascott is closer to boat quay pubs and Marina Bay ]

.. but you do have the nefarious option of the KTV bars across from the Wilkie , and the 'Peace Centre' food court where the girls take their coffee breaks [allegedly smile ]

I've just spent 2 months in Frasier Place, Robertson Walk.

It's very centrally located, rooms are OK, pool, gym, breakfast every morning etc, been very happy there.
