Looks like theyve decided 60% was too much to raise, or the brown envelope wasnt big enough.

If the bung (or the potential returns to key individuals) is big enough, they will find a way around this .... http://en.espnf1.com/f1/motorsport/story/109939.ht...

Shouldn't be allowed any way....Singapore and Valencia should never be on the F1 calander,
+1Add Korea to that list too - practically a 'street' circuit given the proximity of some of the walls. It's an ugly circuit, if nothing else...
At least Thailand can claim some sort of motorsport heritage, even if it does go back a few (dozen...) years, but it doesn't currently seem like a prime F1 location that can offer something unique.
A couple of my mates went to S Korea last year to watch F1 and returned saying never ever again, it had the worst facilities they had ever seen and used for spectators, it was just a very crap weekend. However the organisers have obviously paid "Bern" the going rate and it will be used again until the money runs out, i expect.
The problem is F1 is now a business not a sport, look at the people in the pit lane, there is actually no room for real old fashioned fans, needs all the car companies to pull out except for Lotus and Farrari, and just car companies to be engine suppliers to independent teams, less rule changes between seasons, stop all the pop concerts added on at the curcuit, my biggest objetion to F1 at the moment is that drivers are choosen bassed upon sponsorship not talent.

Looks like they have the right people trying to re-organise the new venue too as he said, "Khon Kaen or Nakhon Ratchasima may not be suitable "because they lack accommodation and facilities to house hundreds of people during the Grand Prix".
FFS Hundreds???
Looks like theyre doing this all for the correct reasons then....

Awesome news but i still think it will tae a while to get the F1 rolling in Thailand. There are many legal hurdles officials with their hand out which needs to be cleared with the distribution of envelopes full of cash before the actual racing starts going. But still a start.
