Ah the perils of political agitation in a country where a 30 second attention span is something worth putting on your CV.
LOL 'aint that the truth ... Sounds more like it was a flash bang rather than an actual grenade too ....
But the rice farmers are not going to be happy that their promised kick back / handout has been cancelled ....

Can anyone from the PH community in Bangkok give an update on the situation there. Travelling to Krabi for CNY with the family from Sing. Assume all is fine there and FCO advice is still green. Is it a case of watch this space ?
Cheers
I was in Krabi a couple of weeks ago and there was nothing. Very chilled indeed. The only trouble i saw was when my alcoholic, chain smoking brother got trapped on a bus full of English and German backpackersCheers

Anyone know where (and for how much) I can buy a drone with a good camera?
I was watching people taking photos of the protests with them yesterday and they look like awesome fun. Seems to be tons of them on Amazon etc but they won't usually post stuff here.
Geezer in the office next to me is an SME geek on these things. Various options available but he recons this is the best value for money in BKK. http://ardrone2.parrot.com/ (~12,000 THB) He found it in Udon Thani was .Life Aparently there is one in Central Department store and Siam ParagonI was watching people taking photos of the protests with them yesterday and they look like awesome fun. Apparently it can be subject to strong winds. He pays local kids to go hunting for it when it gets blown away apart from the time it hit the guy on a bike.
He is pretty serious about this stuff and is upgrading to this bad boy that " has a much better camera and can Pan Tilt" (mmmm nice)
http://www.dji.com/product/phantom-2-vision/
but its ~40,000 THB
He has some interesting "covert" footage on MP4

Pop quiz. What is temporary import status and can it allow me to take a fire spitting jalopy in for three years and ship it out without tax?
I believe that you still have to put up a bond that is somewhere close to the actual tax in order to bring it in ... then of course you have to wonder if you will see that bond again when you ship the car out .... but I am not 100% on that

you are correct. I had a nice chat with a tidy boiler at the ministry of backhanders and she confirmed. She did contradict herself a couple of times on how to get the cash back which raised some alarm bells but that may have been a fluster brought on by my dashingly good farang looks and moobs. After cycling round the race track at Wat Kaeng my interest is re-kindled in getting a jallopy. It looks a complete hoonfest
could be a good starting point for a local track toy!
