Dry Sump Pump fitment

I am considering fitting a dry sump system to my engine while it is out of the car being rebuilt (sbc 400) I am reasonably familiar with dry sumps on 4 cylinder engines but not on the Chevy V8. Questions I have are :
1. How many stages do I need.
2. Where do the pipes fit
3. Has anyone a diagram or pictures of fitment.

Thanks. As a minimum it looks like I need 3 stage, 2 for scavenge (front and rear) on the oil pan, and one stage for pumping oil back into engine from the tank. Do I still retain internal oil pump? i.e. Does the dry sump pump feed the internal oil pump, or can it be removed? What other areas on the block would you want to scavenge the oil back from if you were to add extra stages. Does anyone have an oil pre-heater fitted to the tank, it looks like a good idea.
You must to remove the mechanical oil pump and tap its oil scavenge gallery !!!
Lokk at Moroso's website and find a "block off plate" to do the job.
If your block comes with the provision you can scavenge from rear galeries but you will need at least a 4 stage pump. This is a good plan for a race engine so, if your plan is just fast road and some trackdays a 3 stage installation will be fine.

You can actually retain the engines original oil system and just employ two-way scavenging off the sump.
If you have or can access some basic engineering/fabrication skills its not too difficult to manufacture a relatively lo-cost system.....Just beware of potential system leaks....but on the plus side scavenging might help reduce SBC leaks!!

A belt or tensioned chain as opposed to the stock, sloppy SBC set-up is the proper way IMHO but if you are not cam- sensing its of less importance. Much depends on your expectations and full spec of the particular combo.
Also, anyone planning a dizzy-triggered set-up would see better results by improving the stock timing chain system.
Sounds like neither are applicable in your case though.
