I've been planning an Ultima build for some time now but never had enough space to do it. Up until very recently I had a deal with my neighbour to buy a strip of land and extend my single integral garage sideways to create a nice big double garage and workshop - spot on for my planned Ultima build.

Unfortunately plans have gone south and I'm left with just the single garage again. I could extend forwards by a couple of meters to give me a longer garage, but at present I cant gain the width I think will be needed.

Has anyone had any experience of a build in a single garage??!!! Is it remotely feasible?? I think not, but would welcome any views whilst my plans go back to square 1!!!

do you have a flat driveway in front, so that you can roll the chassis in and out ?

I know that it's possible as GTR Simon built his car in a single garage. As long as you have enough room for a workbench and some storage area for the boxes, you should be ok. Biggest problem is fitting the body as you need a lot of space then. If you get the factory to do it for you it would be less of a problem.

I use a series of pulleys and ropes (from e-bay!) to winch my rear clam up to the roof. Works very well, as you have plenty of space to work below it and its easy to refit afterwards.

Cheers,
Mart

Building my gtr in a single width garage but extended to double length with no probs as yet the dolly enables good movability. Prob will re locate at body fitting time though.

I built a new garage to build mine GTR back in 2000. 16' x 35' and I thought that was getting cramped so have just built a 28'x 51' for my present project....

Respect to the guys who have built with a Single garage....bowbow

Hi guys,

many thanks for the positive responses, it looks as though it is feasible to achieve. I had a good measure and the gtr fits in ok but is tight either side for working on.

I reckon if I extend the garage forward by half a car length it will give me the space I need at one end for my workspace, storing my motorbikes and some of the gtr parts.

Thanks to all replies especially those who built in single garages! My dream coud be re launched!
