think that sold last year at one of the auctions... It was certainly for sale last year at Shelsley Walsh hillclimb... Nice car and attention to detail very good, but never ever seen it with a body before, only as a rolling chassiss..(superchargered Hyabusa if i remember was nicely put together..but for 30k you could have an Ultima and drive it on the road!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

From a mate who knows a few things:

"That thing was at the Doune Hillclimb three weeks ago. What you have there is a Le Mans Chassis weighing about 700 kgs with big slicks and a Hyabusa engine driving through a chain.

First time they dropped the clutch to warm the rears - snap, chain broke. Second time - ditto. Then it went home.

One of the worst engineered installations I've ever seen. It won't work."

that said Pete most of the bike engine hillclimbers are all running chain drive to the rear end and they dont snap..... but then their weight is only 400 kg... I did not realise it weighed that much with the little bike engine..

ye...when u getting the GT3.....you can still cleaning it in your garage for when the licence is back!!!!!!!!!!!!

May I humbly offering a crumb of advice...

It is amazing how different cars change driving personality! Believe me! I know! I have been there, done it..and got the WHOLE outfit!

Get a SLOW 4x4 for the road, and OK get something rediculous for the track! You can if you try have as much fun...but without the pain of another ding from PLOD!

I have Yo-Yo'ed many times

When I look back, every time I got something tasty for the road...DING!, DING!, DING!

Then I got a snail-mobile and my driving changed...Mr Perfect! Cleeeean License

So could you fit a proper longitudinal g/box and light weight V8 in that chassis then?

There doesn't look to be enough length in there, to my eye, without a major re-design of the back end. You are thinking of something like an XB V8 engine,with maybe an X-Trac gearbox - a combo that is used in some hillclimb single seaters ?

I guess you are looking at £50-£60,000 for that combination, plus the cost of re-engineering it (which doesn't look feasible, to my eye)

Alternatively, the V8 engine/gearbox combo that Trevor Willis uses to great effect on the hills, in his OMS would be lighter and cheaper - (ask PaulH for details, if you are interested) - But I don't think it would fit..

I respect the opinion of our mutual friend who saw it at Doune....a chain-snapper is not easily cured - if the tyres won't break traction off the line (or when spinning up) , something else will break !
