Just back from court......

Got stopped on the A24 doing an alleged 122.12mph over a 1.6 mile stretch in the Ultima last October.

Went to court today, with barrister and expert. Prosecution had barrister, PC and expert. My brief managed to get the procecution to agree a lesser speed of 115mph based upon our expert's summary of the unmarked Police Car's PolicePilot video footage (which I have a copy of ).

So I get sentanced for the lesser speed of 115mph with no need for the awkward cross examination.

56 day ban and £815 fine/costs.

Can't say fairer than that.

Anyway - keep my speed down now on the roads. Tought me a lesson.

Roll on Snetterton this weekend!!! (It's on Motors TV if anyone has it/can be bothered )

Really feel for you mate...having spent my day in court in January! Three points have just come off my licence! Only 12 on it now! I drive to the letter of the law these days but at least I never worry about being caught speeding!

I realise this may not be a popular attitude, but you 'feel for' the OP? He was done for doing a minimum of 45 MPH over the speed limit (if it was a dual cariageway section of the A 24, I have no idea) so all I feel is 'serves him right'. It's a risk we all take, but I don't have any sympathy for anyone who gets caught nor would (will) I expect any if (when) it happens to me?

I think on this forum our 'team' have a large and healthy sense of cameraderie. My post was in no was gloating, and hopefully it came across that I have had a lesson taught.

We all enjoy our driving, but for me I drove too fast on this occasion. I think the phrase is 'a fair cop'. Just letting our buddies know the score.

Out of sheer nosiness, did the fact that you'd sold the Ultima come out in court? Does something like that (and the fact you've taken up racing) have any bearing on the outcome?

Don't you go getting all 'Potholy-er than thou' on us mate. If you were a regular on this forum then you may have accrued enough credibility to comment but you're not, so you haven't

Glad it wasn't any worse Pete. As you know, I've just got my GTR and I have to admit I haven't always been wise when taking it for a blast but your experience is going to lighten my right foot from now on - can't afford the fine and couldn't do without a car for that long!

Yes Sir (see I'm still in court mode), it did come up. The Barrister spotted that one early doors and put me on the 'stand' to tell their Majesties that the sale of the 'love of my life' was directly as a result of my 'issue'. And that I now drive a Toyota iQ (67 bhp plays 550 ) I think at least one of the magistrates will be popping into a Toyota centre shortly to see what this car was that I was getting so passionate about!!

She though better of mentioning the racing thing. Shame really, it was part of how I could get my 'speed' fix in a legal manner.

Na pal, 'very' lucky would be reserved for a week or a month ban. Chief-in-charge de Mages said that they HAVE to give me a ban. And a ban inline with the speed.
