brake options

Hi Guys am progressing well with the build now and am wondering about options for brakes. What have people on here used and whats your experiences with them?

Toyota GT4 calipers with TRD Pads and High Spec 333mm Disc's....much more Feel than AP & DS2500 Pads....
Yes AP are no doubt better for Hard track days, but not so nice for normal day to day use....

15,000 miles on one set of discs, two sets of pads - The Factory supplied Federo ? Ferero??

Hauls the car up amazingly quickly, and gave me all the feedback I wanted.

I'd say you want no less, and need no more. A very good option.

Like all things that you have to set up - it's the adjustment (of the balance bar) that is key. Get that wrong and the brakes will feel shocking at best and dangerous at worst.

Loads on here and from the factory about how to adjust 'em right.

Mr Schwartz offers a BAER Braking system. According to HIS site they are an upgrade over the AP. I opted for AP though.

The AP's worked great. But with 1000hp, I now have 14" Baer 6s monoblocks.

Baer is not very well represented over here, but presumably 14" APs would do an equally effective job if you really needed an upgrade?

Thanks for all the ideas guys !! AP seem to get most peoples vote. Do the 14" discs and calipers fit ok under 18" wheels or do you need to go to 19" wheels ?

As Jeff said he fitted bigger because he is running over 1000hp. Unless you are doing the same I would stick with the well tried and tested factory AP setup.
Stop from 100mph in 3.8 seconds should 'suit you sir'.

You will give yourself a world of grief trying to spec 19" wheels to fit in the arches.

I don't know of any owners running 19" rims but it may be worth bearing in mind that even the 'standard' 18"'s are larger than the suspension was designed to use

19s would ruin the handling... If I was to build another Ultima Id go with 17s as even upgrading to the std 18s ruined the handling and dynamics on my car.
