Hi all,

A quick post to introduce myself and my Sports.

I am based in Paris, France (there are 5 Ultimas in France I'm told) and I've bought martinlaw's well-known 1996 Sports, built by John Castle with a yellow + green stripe deco done in hommage to the Harrods Mclaren F1 that ran in Le Mans in 1995 (I was there, geeez time flies!).

The particularity of this Ultima, what appealed to me, is it's purity of purpose as a road-registered racer. The look, noise and interior make no concessions to comfort, refinement or road manners. This car knows what it is: a race-car!

Some professionnal Photos of my car in and around Paris:

Although I bought the car as a track tool, I like the excentric absurdity of occasionally tooling around central Paris. It's great fun to drive slowly, and stirs up enthusiasm wherever it goes.

Here's an amateur video that showed up on You Tube, shot by a bystander, after only one afternoon around Paris. You should see at night, with flashs going off wherever the car goes! The top 3 questions are: 1) Is that REALLY legal? 2) How much does it cost? (people think I'm pulling their leg) and 3) How fast is it?

Quick video so you can hear the sound of the SBC:

For info, my other car is an Alpina B8 4.6 (E36 3-series) and the Ultima is to replace my track prepared 993RS (credit crunch...).

I'm certainly enjoying the Ultima and I look forward to exchanging with you guys.

Alex

You were also spotted by a Dutch guy,

I guess it's a small world after all....

Nice car though, I might see you on the track, if you ever come to Zolder or so...

You may be interested to know that "Which Kit" did a write up on that car sept 1998. I have a copy and can scan in and Email as a pdf if you want. It was featured on the front page and had John Castle inside. John used to write the club newspaper before all this internety speggetti thingy!

Yes, the Which Kit write up is actually scanned on the Ultima Sports website, so I do have it. Thanks for offering anyway! :-)
