Balance-bar info required.

Started the pedal fit last night and came up with a couple of installation questions on the brake pedal.
In the centre of the balance bar is that symmetrical egg-shaped pivot, machined either side of the centre is a slot (parting-off tool type slot). Does anything actually fit into these slots, 'O' ring, seal etc or is it just there to absorb pedal/balance stresses? If not, what locks the bar and stops it from spinning.....or changing bias. I would have thought some sort of locking mechanism were used/required to satisfy the initial Ministry inspection?
If nothing is fitted as standard has anyone added a grubscrew to the centre of the ally pivots, where the balance screws through them, if so did this satisfy the Ministry?

The factory produce a special locking piece that fits on one end of the shaft and is retained by a locknut. This will then need to be drilled and roll pinned for SVA/IVA.
I don't remember the grooves you mention but don't believe they perform a function other than making machining easier.

When setting up the brakes make sure the bias is well to the front at first until you fine tune them.
One way to guage this (unless you just stamp on the pedel until a wheel locks) is to go out for run and break heavily a few times, then using a laser thermometer, take readings from front and rear disks.
The front disks should always be hotter than the rears.
