Wow that is a great picture. Can you please give us the part and brand info? While you're at it, can you tell us what brand stalk that is? Do you use the windshield wiper part or just the turn signals and lights?
Thanks,
Paul
cheers!Thanks,
Paul
Its all Vauxhall swtichgear.. but I know others prefer the escort as the vauxhall stuff doesnt do lights as well..
I have the wipers/full beam/indicator/wash wipe all running.. and using the rear wipe switch for some other bits..
I fitted these:
ebay link
to brighten them up a bit.. all fits together nicely.. I know GTRClive had concerns the weight of the stalks might cause them to bounce, tho' I havent had that problem yet...

I want to loose the crushable spacer to gain a bit more arm length. . . could the Snap Off hub bolt to the column plate?
My crushable section may fall off after SVA, then i will bolt the snap-off to the column plate.. ive drilled and tapped the plate with this in mind..V8OWNER said:

By the way who is the manufacturer of the quick release steering hub? It looks familiar but I can not place it.
Thanks,
Randy

We are going to do the same, just trying to fathom out the rules regarding SVA for a removable steering wheel. It seems the way to go is to get a fixed one for the SVA then make any changes (adding a removable one) afterwards.
There were the obvious solutions at teh Autosport show, plus some more complex (expensive) ones too, it appeared that the bog standard one in the Demon Tweeks catalogue or similar will do the job just fine.
Since you have used a bolt on one, do you shorten your steering column or just have the wheel closer to you? Or am I being stupid and the space the adaptor takes up would have been used up by the wheel adaptor hub anyway?
TIA
Jonny

All my kits have had the snap off one fitted, and passed SVA..
the fit onto hub is obviously very good, and I leave the lock in so it cant be removed...
My cars passed at yeading.. cant comment on other stations or the IVA..
I havent changed the column length in any way.. seems ok to me..

I cut back the Escort stalks and fitted them on custom brackets and they now fit behind a 280mm wheel.
The idea was stolen from Martin (Davrainman) when he posted the pic below here >> http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=474...

Mine is slightly different in that in order to get the stubs in close enough to the steering shaft that they are behind a 280mm wheel, I had to cut off the hazard switch. I cut through the circuit board, then soldered wires bewteen the hazard and the stub, allowing the hazard to be relocated.
By doing this i brought the stubs close enough to the column that I could make the self cancel work.
I am using a Sparco weld-on quick release.

Nice one Crafty. Looking good. I am going to do the same with mine now as I am using the hazard switch on my TVR panels instead...The idea was stolen from Martin (Davrainman) when he posted the pic below here >> http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=474...

I am on my 3rd design of bracket now :-) Good bit of development engineering!
