Build Dolly's

Any body around the midlands got either a chassis dolly or some trestles they need out of their way ???

failing that it's pull my finger out and make it myself, just short of time that's all!!

Cant help with the 'supply' of a chassis trolley but.... having first had my chassis on stout wooden trestles and on monday tranferred it to a newly made trolley, the use of a trolley is a no-brainer. Its now just so much easier to move it slightly or even wheel it outside by myself...no hanging round for mates or neighbours.
However I will still use the wooden trestles for a short period when rivetting the underside......... the trolley struggles against the cage etc!

IMHO its well worth getting your hands on one or, 65 quid and four or five hours work .

I did also try to make the trolley into a flat pack version by welding longish 'L' tabs on the two trestle ends and then was going to bolt through the long bits. It didn't seem stable enough so I scrapped the idea and just welded it up as-per the factory stands. The only difference was I used 1 1/2"
sq tube instead of the 2" listed on build sites.....a local fab-shop had a few offcuts going cheap.......it still seems very rigid and stable!!

My chassis is on a dolly, there is a brand new welder in the workshop (but no gas bottle) and there is a steel stockholder next door :-) You could easily knock one up (though not in the biblical sense)

I won't be getting to the workshop until the chassis arrives, didn't really want it sat on the deck while I knocked the dolly together!! I'll try and nail some kind of cradle, does it need to be about 685x685x2000 ish? anyone?!

Mine was sat on its side in the old garage for three months initially. Just taped some thick foam pipe lagging to the side outrigger-(its made of 5/8 - 3/4" sq tube) and propped it up with a pallet. Not a mark on it when we eventually moved it into the new garage....so Im sure yours would be fine whilst you just made the stand !

You will need trestles anyway when you come to turn the chassis over to panel the underside - it won't fit on the dolly.

You might as well get them now....

I bought something like these from Machine Mart http://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/product/details/...

They can then be used as well for when you take the centre section off...if you decide to make them yourself, don't make them too low....you want to be able to stand upright inside when you are working on the centre section (dash holes etc.)
