Hey all,

Have been eyeing around this forum for months, never posted as all my questions are answered either by the forum or Ted.

Went for the test ride a couple of weeks ago and promptly ordered a can am, should be here in 10 weeksish.

sounds great, until yesterday evening when the phonecall of doom happened.

The lock up where i had planned to build the can am is no longer available. It was my cousins, but the credit crunch has forced his hand and now he's using it.

so i'm on the scrounge, does anyone know of anywhere that i can rent, otherwise i'm in an iso conrainer with 200mm of room on both sides!!

I'm in the Leicester area, but travel for work so if anyone knows of anywhere along the M1 from J18 to 35 thats reasonable, (i'm not paying £400 per month then council fee's like at the only place i've found!) please let me know!!

Adam

This is your lucky day :-)

How about sharing my workshop ??? Power, flat concrete floor - Steel security doors, roller shutter doors sunk into the ground for extra safety, security lights, alarm ...... use of a clean toilet at the end of the block.

PLENTY of room for two Ultima builds at the same time - bit too big for just me.

The rent is £255 per calendar month so would gladly go halves ?? £127.50 each ???? No Vat to pay but maybe in time we will get caught out for rates (not being charged at the moment)

It is in a place called Long Clawson about 15 minutes from the Asda store at Thurmaston near Leicester. Go up the A46 to the six hills junction, follow towards Melton, then turn off BEFORE you get to Melton. Quite close really.

Yes there is 24 hour access but the units are by someone's house so it would be a bit off to be there past 10 I would think, will ask. Certainly weekends are no problem.

It is a nice workshop - big enough for four cars at a push, but you would need to take one out to give some working room. You could comfortably do three concurrent builds in there.

God I can feel the love from here
cue piped violins, candle light, soft warm summer breeze ...... the romantic sound of spanners on nuts and builders mugs of tea with milk that may or may not still be fit for human consumption. All of this romance mingled with expletives from cutting soft delicate fingers on the edge of the aluminium panel kit and throwing tools across the workshop when things don't fit.

Can Can-Ams and GTRs breed ?? Not sure if they will be safe left in there alone

Hi Adam,

I have checked with the landlord and he is cool with us both having keys but has obviously maintained that the responsibility for the place still lands with me ....

I appreciate that it may be a little earlier than you wished but as I have several people asking now can we start from 1st Jan ? You could at least move your tools in, set things up where you want them etc ready for your chassis to be delivered a month later.

Will give you a bell and maybe you would like to come over and make sure it is what you are lookinng for ?

That sounds fine Andy, 1st of december would be great, give me a chance to sort things out beforehand.
I'll be back in Leicester on Sat, and there for a couple of weeks, so give me a ring, (if I worked the PM right!!)and we can meet.

Andy,

Haven't heard anything from you over the holidays, I'm back off tomorrow, i.e. Sunday.
Tried to message you, don't know whether I used it right, I have a tendency to balls up computer stuff!!

If the place is still available, let me know, if not,

HELP!

Indeed :-)

I may have a shed to sleep in but when she has finished I won't have a pot to piss in though !!! Becuase we have a little boy she will have the lot. Don't mind because it is all for him in my eyes, not her.

Thats a right state of affairs, sorry to hear it.

I've just been informed that the chassis is turning up on the 30th of Jan, about 2 weeks earlier than planned.

Good news in some respect, but means I'm going to have to pull my finger out with work!!

This was supposed to be a happy thread, about another member joining the elite owners club (even if it is the camp version!)

Please don't get me wrong, I'm sorry to hear about anyone home problems, it's that time of year for it too.

Yo guys, out of interest what is the divorce rate amongst Ultima owners ? thats about five I know of, myself almost included, is it during the building stage or the finished stage ?
or even buying secondhand stage????confused

I wonder if its the freedom they get jealous of, or the fact it has nothing to do with the 2.4 kids we have(doesnt apply to me though as i dont have kids...........just cars and motorbikes)??
