Hi Guys,

My GTR spaceframe was delivered on Friday, exactly on the date agreed, at excatly the time agreed.

No major surprises there, after all, this is an expensive piece of kit, manufactured by a professional comapny and is production scheduled so it SHOULD be easy enough to predict dates.

What WAS a surprise however, was after the spaceframe was unloaded and put on top of the workshop dolly, the Ultima Engineer proceeded to take out a bunch of cleaning rags and spray cleaner. Without being asked he subsequently cleaned the whole chassis, tube by tube and when I said "Wow, I did not expect that", he replied "It is your new chassis, we do not want you to have any dirt or rain marks on it, we want you to really enjoy this build".

It is such a tiny tiny thing for me to get chuffed about but I was absolutely taken aback by such attention to detail and the attitude that the guys have had towards me so far. I really did not expect it which is why it stopped me dead. It did not save me a single penny, did not further the build of the car one iota .... but what it did do is make me grin and feel glad I am buying into Ultima.

If this is any indication of what is to come from the Ultima team as the build progresses then I am very pleased and it bodes exceptionally well for the future.

This is not intended to blow smoke up anyone's arse, nor it is some sycophantic attempt to get into anyone's good books but like many, I am the first to say when things are not as they should be so it is only right and proper to give praise where it is due for a good job done.

I honestly felt that they stepped up to the mark, they stepped over it and frankly surpassed my expectations which was a pleasant surprise.

Excellent news!

Just out of interest, how does your front roll hoop look for having symmetrical curves around its top corners? Try sighting it from the front toward the rear hoop. Would be interested to know how it looks....dont worry, nothing sinister.....more for my piece of mind than anything!
Cheers.
Dave.

The workshop is two hours drive away so I will look next week to report on the curves :-) - One thing they did do for me was to replace the two front to back strengthening bars between the driver and passenger's heads with one single bar for extra room.

Did that with mine too. It was a good move as I can now sit in comfort without my head touching the bar as it was in the demonstrator. Happy building Andy. Welcome to the club!

Andy, I think you'll find the Factory impressive in a lot of ways, they're patient and good to deal with which is handy as you'll be calling them a fair bit for help (and on PH'ers).
I'm in Sutton Coldfield so feel free to take a look at my GTR if you get stuck or need inspiration.
