Brighton Speed Trials

Anyone here fancy a trip down to the coast on 13.9.08 ?
It is the oldest motor racing event of its type and has been run for over 100 years ( there was a stop gap at some point, the war or some such, I don't know ). It is basically quarter mile racing with cars and bikes running individually in different classes and the best time wins. Entry is £10 and it is good to walk around and look at the cars up close and everyone is approachable and light hearted.
I had hoped to have run the GTW this year as much as anything, because to my knowledge at least, there has never been an Ultima run down Madeira Drive before ( that is the name of the road used for the event which is right on the beach beneath the Prom just to the left of the Palace Pier facing the sea ).
Any how, it starts at 0900 with practice runs till lunch and then timed competitive runs in the afternoon. It may be an idea to take a collapsible chair or something as if you are able to find a spectating point it is nice to take a load of from time to time
I am sitting in my office at the moment typing this and I can here planes outside and subconsciously I am thinking 'that is really irritating, what is going on?' and I have just realised, it is the Shoreham Airshow this weekend which is about 3 miles up the road LOL.

If you are taking a collapsible chair, id suggest some good walking shoes too!!
Speed trails day in Brighton can be a bugger to park, but its worth the hassle... A great day out all the same. You get very close to the cars and an elevated watching area the full length of the track. Shame the noise levels have been so strict over the last few years as the cars and bikes they used to run were something else..I havent been since i moved to Wales some 5 years ago and even then i wasnt allowed to run due to noise restrictions...
And best thing is its free to watch, you only pay to go into the pits(or has it changed?)

Have been a good few years & not seen one. Would be GREAT to have a British 4 wheel vehicle that can match the daft bikes' times. First time I competed there, about 11 years ago, I did 11.20 / 118 mph if I recall correctly in a 1080 Yamaha engined single seater. That broke the "up to 1100 cc racing car" class record - The record stood for about 15 minutes, till my mate did 11.15.... 
It's a great day out...
