Is it just me or are the plastic ends to the door opening rams a waste of time. Mine just snapped on the drivers side!

Yep they are very weak. Seems like a good project for someone to fabricate out of aluminum.

guys: we went down this road a while back. The factory E mailed me when I suggested the same thing and politley asked me to consider what might break if the door was knocked forward, easy enough to do, and the plastic piece wasn't the weak link. I took a look at that from their view and everything after the link is expensive or hard to fix. I also have had my share of problems with the link and my only thought is to replace the palstic link with something stronger but then put a shear point with a replaceable pin in it or come up with a plastic link that could be easily replaced. I think the latter is a better idea. Any thoughts. Lee

Charles Dunn was going to make something for me out of ali but I made a steel version in the end. Very simple, weld nut to piece of thick steel, drill hole and shape. 1hr latter and door back in action!

I broke the passenger side one by bumping the door while it was up. I went back and added some safety wire from the empty strut attachment point on the hinge to the frame. It keeps the door from being opened to far.
