Hi Everyone, after a 3 year sebatical im back in the Ultima fold again. I bought the Red GTR in the classifieds adds and just collected it last night.
There are a lot of new names on here so I thought I would just say hello to everyone.
Really pleased with the car so far, couple of little jobs I want to do but on the hole very impressed. Would like to say a big thanks to john who sold it me.
Seems weird driving a GTR after a Canam. Im still grinning now.
Cheers
John

Hello Little Bro
So pleased you bought it because that means my yellow peril retains its name "The Divorcer" – you know I would have bought it if you hadn’t.
Nice car and I'm sure there are a few bits on there that I can use but it's just a shame I already ordered my 'Dry Sump' – you can store it in my garage for a couple of weeks if you want.

hm... what's "different" between GTR and CanAm?
I decided to order an CanAm, would you say I should better take a GTR?
I only want to drive the car on warm days und use the Ultima as a pure fun-Car for road trips or events. I would prefor something around 700hp (LS-7). Are there any reasons to take the GTR instead of the CanAm?

Neither is better than the other, but our climate means you get precious little opportunity for roof down hooning.I decided to order an CanAm, would you say I should better take a GTR?

Both have their merits - it's down to personal preference really.

Welcome back mate. I hope your not planing on removing the gearbox and clutch in a camp site in the middle of france with your new steed? That reminds me, you still owe me a 13mm socket! (Used as a bearing to hold your clutch fork in place)
Enjoy
the new car

Cheers paul, its good to be in the driving seat again! How can you expect anyone to believe we used a 13mm 3/8 socket as a needle bearing though! I have never heard anything as ridiculousEnjoy

I agree with stig, IMO the Canam is great for posing and cant be beaten when the sun is out. The GTR feels a lot more closed in and sitting in it makes you suddenly think your "the other Stig". They are both brilliant and just a brilliant experience. Both have their merits - it's down to personal preference really.

I personally dont care for the heat that enters the cockpit on the CanAm on those sunny days.I decided to order an CanAm, would you say I should better take a GTR?

Heat from radiator comes over the windshield into the cockpit and the heat from the engine bay opening bakes you at the stop lights. Sorry, CanAm owners, just my opinion.

You're right about the backwash from the engine bay though which is why the factory block the intake scoop off. My Can-Am used the Reverie intake system to feed cold air to the air filter instead.
