I thought I would bring this up as the BBC have an in-car of Stig lapping the track in a Ferarri. I don't remember such a good complete Stig lap shown from inside. www.bbc.co.uk/topgear/track.shtml
Compare it with the GTR in-car that Ultima did. Its quite interesting to see the lines taken.
Also, when Stig crosses the line at the end, the steering wheel looks to move up and down relative to the dash. Quite strange.

I would agree with Phil. The line taken by the Ultima driver was a lot better. Who is the driver in the F car? He seems like a rookie the way he is driving. He is especially bad early in the video. Its almost like he has never driven that car before and wasn't sure how to handle its power.

The GTR really hooks up at the start as well cf Fezza. Overall, the GTR looks really composed throughout. Fezza looks more on limit and around hammerhead is really pushed wide.
If only Top Gear would run the car! (With the Ultima test driver of course) They ran the Ascari after all. Anyone remember what the Ascari time was?

TG have unashamably admitted last night that their show is less about cars and more about silly-ness...
Clarksons comments about this week concentrating on 'cars' and next week returning to 'antics' with daft competitions rather trashes what I heard as the the excuse for not wanting to feature Ultima!
I know...how about a quick kit car section - maybe we should push for this? - could be a source of some very amusing antics since silliness is now the TG mantra!

I really don't understand why folks seem so aggrieved that TG have not had an Ultima 'officially' put round that damn track of theirs yet!
It is not the first time that I have said, but I for one prefer the car to be as low key as it is ( in the publicity stakes at least ) after all, it is the best kept secret it is not?

I'm also not that bothered about the lack of a Top Gear appearance given the style of the recent series.
I found the Stig video was interesting as it showed the handling of the Fezza cf the Ultima in terms of lines taken and relative driver action on the wheel.

I, as have many others I should think, have heard this that and the other about the Stig ( who I have been told is one of three specific drivers depending who is available at the time of shooting the show, so there you go, that is one bit of hearsay! ), although I would say that does sound logical. As you can not see the Stig's face it could in fact be ANYBODY, and maybe that is one reason why the aforementioned clip at the beginning of this thread looks a bit strange. Also, as with the 'Top Gear' Ultima, suspension settings can certainly benefit from tweaking so maybe that Ferrari had not been optimized?

The vid does show 1:21:04 ish for the fez and thats par for the car according to the list above. If there are a number of Stigs and I dont doubt it, then they are relatively consistent.
Hope to catch up (stationary!) with you and the black one at some time soon. When is it back on the road?

Those lap times are rubbish.
The Civic Type R is nearly 3 seconds slower than a Golf GTI/Clio 182? The CTR performs best on track and normally beats these hot hatches around the track or is at least very close to them.
What is even worse is the lotus elise is also 2 seconds slower than the Golf GTI! Is the R32 really 2 seconds quicker than a Focus RS?
Anyway, sorry for gatecrashing the topic.
