Anyone has any experience with modifying the G50 for cable shifting? I know CMS has a cable shifter kit, but it requires internal gearbox mods. This one fits directly, but I'm not sure if it clears the Ultima frame.

Hi guys: I have the CMS side shifter mod on my G50 with a renegade shifter. It works well because I have done a little home work. First of all the brackets to hold the cables need to be mounted to the gearbox. that way when the box moves the shifter stays with it instead of changing distances from the frame. Second of all the cables that Renegade sources are very high quality. If I did this from from scratch I would not use Renegades shifter, I would use the one shown in the picture above. I have had that box in my hot little hands and it looked to be a quality piece. lastly when is sommebody going to produce the paddle shift or lever shift sequencail shifter with electrical actuaters at the box ? Come on Crafty you don't have that nick name for nothing. Thanks Lee

Lee, is this more or less what you are looking for? The picture was sent to me by UltimaCZ. (I think). I think he told me SQSRacing provided it. The unit is shifting a G96-88 from a single cable using sequential shifter in the cockpit. As I understand it, you still need to use the clutch.

Randy: yes that's what I am looking to do in the future. I completely understand that you need to still use the clutch. The electrons and controls nesscary to eliminate the clutch on an exsisting box probably would cost 1/3 of what the car cost to buid , no thanks. I appreciate the post Randy I wonder if the owner of this would like to comment on his opinion of this set up in practice. Lee
