I will try and help...

18 degree heads require different headers and they are expensive to make as much as £4000!! The heads also breath better so give better top end power than standard 23 degree heads.

It has all the right bits air con, ap etc etc

I dont think it is expensive if it is what you want that is a very high spec car and will be mega quick!!

Mike Huddard has a good reputation. I have always found him very helpful.
Good luck in your search, the engine fitted in the car will be a little tricky around town but great at the top of the rev range.

I think kylemrushall maybe confused. 18 degree heads are the standard for SBC engines. The 23 degree head are the ones that require different headers and intakes. The factory 720 car uses 23 degree heads.

Looks like a good car. I knew the 'Carbon Car' (oddly the CF body weighed more than the GRP version if I recall correctly) but interesting that they decided to rebody it. Would have thought you could pull a CF clip from the GRP mould?

Anyways - looks like a good'un, but definitely worth speaking to Ted/Richard as they will know a lot about it.

Stock SBC use 23 degree, if you fit 18 degree(None std) you will need at least a new inlet manifold....

Stock LSx's are 17 I think ...FYI

If the power is what you are looking for, would it not be cheaper to buy a good spec 2001 car (for around £30k) and replace the engine?

Not sure of which American Speed engines, but some are "stock" with 18 degree heads. One engine comes "stock" with 13 degree. If your refer back to the Chevy "standard" head, 23 degrees is probably more common.

Yeah thats why I was wondering if it was a bit "rich" for a 2001-2 car but thought that the factory build and engine maker has put the extra £10k on it

If anyone could find a 2001 car and get it to that spec for £12k then I suggest their middle name must be Blaine or Daniels! Trust me, I have the receipts to prove it.

Glad my car has found a new home already, new owner is a top bloke, a Pistonheader and real enthusiast. What more could she ask for in a new Dad

yep ... well done rich!! seemed a good spec and well worth the money you wanted well done it is nice to see cars fetching reasonable prices. At the end of the day you get what you pay for. If we all held out for good prices it would make every secondhand car worth a bit more.

There was no bait laid. I'm fairly new to Ultimas and presently looking around. I've seen 2001-2 cars going for early to mid £30k's and saw yours at £42k so asked the question if the extra was beacuse of the factoy build and engine .... wheres the harm in asking

Well now I've paid for the car, I guess it's time for me to admit it's me who's bought it.

Price wise I think it represents great value, having looked around at a lot of cars recently, age is the least important aspect from what I can see, spec and build quality and the care and attention are what I was looking for and these vary HUGELY from car to car.

Rich has done a stunning job a creating what I believe is a great car and the colour just finishes it for me......

Hope to meet you all over the coming year and have a lot of fun with the car. Def already booked to go down to the Le Mans Classic and sure I'll be at other events some of you may attend?

I think that is a totally fair price for a car that has obviously been built and maintained to a very high std.

It would probably have cost almost twice that new, and like others have said, Ultimas aren't age sensitive, just condition and......erm...possibly usage

The spec is very good, and Brodix heads are the muts nuts.
They have just made me a special order , and my engine builder did a lot of research before we decided on them.
They also get a good press in the USA.
Nice quality componants, with all the 4340 forged parts and solid roller cam.
Will be interesting to see how the Ultimas run at FT this year Peter - you have got to beat that pesky Adrian this time.
Should have some interesting news on FT soon - though cant say anything until we get the nod from a certain quarter, but rest assured, its going to be good
