So finally got the gauge working.

So tickover and light throttle 8 to 9.
I got 13 on overrun.
Goes 20 odd under initial acceleration.

Pretty crap really.

Anybody want to buy a carb.

Hey up Steve, that is pretty rich and pretty lean on accel. The first thing I did with my EFI conversion was put the ECU on the engine while still running with my Holley just so I could log the AFR. I had a similar story really so I was glad with what I was doing. I never had my carb checked have you?

I'm about to dive in to my new engine with Innovate AFR. Charles Dunn will be setting the Holley HP carb, already set by American Speed (on a similar engine). I'm gonna stick my neck out and say, if this doesn't work, then carbs are dead (in my eyes).

Fingies crossed.

Steve, what are you gonna do, now knowing what is happening?

Just confirms what I think of a carb on a sbc... just not good enough for an Ultima application IMHO.

I have fitted a new engine this year with a FAST efi system and my thought process was

there is little or no point fitting a new engine with a carb as they simply dont work period. I didnt want the bore washing, poor starting, stalling, poor economy etc etc.

The AFR on the fuel map is at 14.0 ish around idle to 12.5 ish at full throttle!!! On the short runs i have used the car what a transformation!!
It revs and responds instantly it is such an improvement!! I will report on the economy improvements when i have used the car a bit more.

It has been a lot of work but i think it will be worth it. The 377 cu in is so revvy i cant wait to use it in anger. I hope you can sort it Steve!
