Made a dolly today

I thought I'd make the dolly today. I used the plans on Stigs website

The steel arrived this morning from Parker Steel. They were very helpful.



Dusted off the MIG and got started.

Stig IS the man. Followed the same plan myself. Couldn't have built the GTR without it.

Am happy to report that my own dolly is now doing sterling work London way. Matt L, you must have the body on in the next few weeks ? Send me some more pics dude !

Oh, and with welding like that you should be building chassis not dollys!!

Nice piece of kit. I did find it extremely useful to have 2 bars on bottom and used boards as storage place under car. Mainly due to building in a single garage.

Thanks for the comments. Good idea about the storage. I'll put a sheet of ply on the base.

When I'm done with the dolly I'll pass it on.

Try putting a name tag and year of build on. It would be interesting 10 years to see how many cars built on it and where it ends up.

Found it more beneficial to have the 3 main lengths detachable from the end frames. So comes apart and hangs flat on the wall. Even brought it with me when I moved......
Just welded 2 plates either side of each end of the horizontals then butted the ends sections up and drilled though making sure the holes where tight on the 12mm bolts so the frame stays stiff..... and made it from Stainless kindly removed from the scrap bin at a previous employer..... so nearly even free..... 30 quid for casters... you never know when you might need it again... 2 GTR's and counting...
