Hi!
I should receive a Ultima GTR kit next month and I have not yet decided on the gearbox I am going to use. The g50 was the recomendation from Ultima but I personally would like something more extreme, such a sequential gearbox. My road use for the car would be only from my house to the track. The engine is a 406ci amerispeed engine (chevy). I see some of you guys are familiar with sequential gearbox that is why I would love to know your thoughts on this matter and if possible I would like to know where to look in order to find one.
thank you very much!

The 406 would not be my ideal choice for the engine so if you have not committed to it I would look at the 377.

And before the 'know it alls' jump in I know this is the engine size I have it's just that I now know better.

yep the mega revvy nature of the 377 is perfect for the Ultima. Elite transmissions in Stoke on trent do sequential trans/boxes but i dont think they have fitted any to an Ultima yet??

I looked at the Elite box, they have fitted it to and Ultima but with the Audi V8 engine not a SBC. I visited the factory, they are nice people but there were too many unknowns for me!

Gian: Could you please keep us informed about r talks with the tranny folks. I met them at PRI in Florida and it did seem that they could fit a box to a Ultima. But with me in California that seemed "a bridge to far" for the first article. Thanks for any input. Lee

I will keep you guys informed . I also want to contact Hewland, Quaife and Xtac to check on prices, but the 7 000 pounds Elite charged me for the 6 speed box and the bell housing sounds fair.

Gian, I'm looking at an Ultima in Northampton that has a paddle gearbox. Here's the details:

Hi,

Not sure if they do a sequential box, but Quaife have developed a non sequential gearbox that mates to Ford engines for the GT40 market.

It is reputed to be an excellent piece of kit. I believe they have sold the first batch already.

LuckyP it is the compressed air bottle for the paddle air shifter. The picture is not very clear but It looks to be with the little air compressor behind it.
