Found this, what they say about the box:
Porsche GT2 & GT3 transaxle gearbox: this gearbox is designed as a complete replacement gearbox for the Porsche GT2 and GT3R race cars. It features a 6 speed, sequential, dog engagement transmission and can be manufactured with either an alloy or magnesium casing to suit current regulations.

Ricardo (British Company!) are very well respected; the DSG gearbox in the Bugatti Veyron is made by them, so I'm guessing they also had a hand in other VW/Audi DSG boxes too. I guess it's fair to say they know what they are doing!
this somewhat pre-dates all that...Ricardo brought Gemini Transmissions, they made this box.
Gemini made some really decent stuff, including the box for the BAR F1 car (back when they were BAR). They were (and I think still are) in Brackley.
I would suggest running one on a road car is a bad idea, sequenital dog boxes require maintenance (and I don't mean oil changes)... and they are less than road freindly...

I don't know this particular box, but I used a Hewland FGC with sequential dogs on my racing car and unless every change is firm and positive, you can run into problems with the dog rings getting damaged, and then they require changing.
Also, a "bad" gear change can result in damage to the selector forks, which then require changing - if the box is not initially set up VERY accurately on a jig, you will get the problems I have mentioned (on a Hewland)
On a Hewland, there are some mods you can make i.e. grind off every alternate dog to make it 4-dog, rather than 8, but you then have to do the same to every gear....not cheap...

1st gear goes up to 65 miles, so no problem on the M25.
To me the Ultima is not a familycar, but a racecar for the road..
And in that case I like that sound of the strait cut and gearchange.
I love it, will show foto's of the gearlever when it is in.
PS: Had straith cut 6 seq before, with the "normal services".
Will keep the standard porsche gearbox in the garage, just in case.

people are mixing terms here...
straight cut has nothing to do with dog engagement.
yes, straight cut will be noisy, but appart from that no problem.
Dog-engagement is another story, they really are NOT for a road car. I also have a Hewland FGC in one of my cars, it get's stripped several times a year for mainenance, do a ham-fisted change and say goodbye to another dog ring (if your lucky).
I would not dream of using one in a road car

Come on scuffers, wouldn´t you?
How many km a year do you drive the Ultima....500?
That's one time revising every 2 years... not so bad.........
well, How many km a year do you drive the Ultima....500?
That's one time revising every 2 years... not so bad.........
last time it (ProSport) went out it did some 2,200 miles over the weekend (Britcar 24H)
gearbox came appart 3 times, once scheduled (before the start, the other 2 to replace dog rings.
this is fine so long as your OK with doing this yourself, but if your paying for somebody to do the work, it all adds up. Gearbox's are a specalist bit of kit, and whist I can quite happily change dog rings and cogs on mine, I still need to use a specalist to overhaul it regularly (John Pickford @ Silverstone).
I just can't see the point in running one on the road (also, thinking abut it, the ratio's for a race car will be hopless on the road, and whilst you can mix and match cogs, the overall range is usually not that great)
I was interested in buying a Prosport (with Hewland) last summer but was talked out of it when it was clear that I would be entering into a sea of maintenace which I would probably get fed up with.
The sensible advice said that an arrive/drive deal for trackdays was best as the owner has all the pain of looking after the repairs and I just do the fun bit.

as a race car they are really cheap to run (as they go) only real weak points were the FT200 Hewlands (later ones went FGC) and the FBE engines are a bit of a pain (better off building your own or running stock 2.9 FBC's) appart from that, they are very straight forward.
in the process of building one back up with a Honda K20 engine in it, this will shed some 100+Kg's (over the FBE) and as it revs higher with a lighter rotating assembly, the FT200 box should be fine.
best bit about them is a ProSport can run at the same lap pace as a 7L Mossler...

Yes Straight cut is a no no, but Seq dog box with helical gears has to be the useable option.... you can use the clutch most of the time which should make the rings last alot longer....
Just remember before Sycros nearly all gearboxes where Dog engaugement..... and every body had to double the clutch to change down..... it all depends how hard you are on the box....
I was going to have a Eltie Seq box but found 2 Zonda boxes at the right money...

I ran my FTR'S Hewland box in a Juno for two seasons and 4500kms with no trouble at all. It's still going strong with the new owner. Also had no trouble duffing up 7L Mosslers even though I only had 250BHP and 90kgs of passenger.

Juno is not really in the same catagory as a Mosler (or ProSport/Ultima)...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KFXIuPEqqqw
that said, Mick Christopher's ProSport can embaras the Juno's..

Hey UFO2NOB, do you think with your new modified suspension on your Ultima can outrun a Juno on the track? Let's say both of the cars are running on street legal sticky tires.
The Ultima won't get close not even with the help of God.That Mossler was a full Fia race spec car, not a road car at all.
It's owned by the Roll Centre racing team,Martin Shorts outfit and driven by proffessional drivers.
