Yes 'twas me. returning from the "Sunday Service" at Wadhurst, I decided to take the "back roads" home because of the traffic congestion at Wadhurst. Big mistake! The road was treacherous and I was not travelling that fast, but on exiting the corner in the distance (see photos) the rear stepped out. I must have overcorrected because my right rear wheel made heavy contact with the right rear of the Honda CRV. That part of the car is totalled (wishbones broken, drive shaft broken, wishbone mounts bent, upright broken, plus all the body panels etc. The rear clip was wrenched off and was replaced prior to the photos )sadly this was GTRMikie, all is ok and no one was hurt, he will post some pics up later

The guy in the CRV wasn't that bothered because it is a company car. He was admiring the Ultima just before I hit him!
Ditto reckons I should buy the salvage and rebuild it.

Glad you are OK......and that you and the third party seem to have taken it in the best possible spirit.
So, you gonna get a wing on the new one??
One of the posters on the GG thread reminds me just how mad our cars are. Rediculous power to weight, mega wide tyres, no ABS or TC.
Was there this 'sludge' on the road that others were guessing at?

As I approached this series of corners, there were signs warning of a slippery road. The problem occurred just as I straightened up to accelerate up the hill after the corner. Maybe the tyres were covered in s**t and that caused the momentary lack of grip. I had already negotiated a veritable ice rink a few miles previously down the road.Was there this 'sludge' on the road that others were guessing at?

(ditto has already mentioned the lack of wing thing over the phone, how could you stoop to his level P!)
My neighbour has just bought himself a Knoble and he went to Sunday Service and saw you there but when I later saw him and he told me of a yellow Ultima, we could not place who it was ( he has met Steved and said it was not him but some other old bloke 
). Glad you are OK Mike, shame about the car, being one of the first GTR's and all but at least you still have the Scamp eh?

I think you may be suprised at the cost to repair this, I did almost identical damage to mine, granted cant see the chassi but mine looked far worse than that. When I got it home and eventually got it stripped down there was no chassi damage. The wishbones seem to do there job and take the brunt of the impact, The mounting bracket may need repairing that isnt a big job. Also have to say factory did brilliant job repairing it too, matched the colour perfectly.

Bummer - sorry to hear about your incident Mike. Definitely worth buying the salvage (if you can). It's likely that it will end up with the factory (other have).
The roads are a 'mare at the moment. I've heard that they've been using some sort of 'beet bonding agent with the salt, so once the salt goes, the slimy stuff remains. Have lost the front end of my bike 4 times in as many weeks which is NOT fun

It is not a pretty sight behind the wheel. As stated above both wishbones broken, with mounting lugs severely bent, upright broken, drive shaft snapped which may have holed the gearbox because there was a little pool of oil underneath. The rear clip is totalled as is right hand side pod and possibly the centre section because the catches etc were ripped out. One big worry is that the drivers door will not close.If it is written off and I buy the salvage how do I stand with building another car, since obviously a lot of components on the "new" car would be secondhand. Would that mean a Q plate? If I buy the salvage but don't build another car, who would buy, engine/gearbox aside, secondhand Ultima parts?
I would love the factory to repair it ( I wouldn't entrust that to anyone else) because over the years I have become somewhat attached to it. But at "my time of life" (as Wayne says I am mature owner) should I be starting a new build? (But I am considering that part built kit in Classifieds if the Insurance company gives me a quick decision)
