Fighting Torque 2008
Discussion
Hey guys,
This event gives us a great chance to compare spec. It's the perfect distance to allow light weight, high traction cars to run riot, and it's only us, mega Porsches, the odd Lambo and Adrian in his nutty Noble that will trouble the lead!!
I've invited the Noble boys to comment, so lets start the banter!!

Right O chaps.
10th August - Date is fixed. It's up to one mile this year so perhaps still within our grasp.
The gauntlett is thrown, let's make this the official 'who's got the fastest Ultima over a mile', event.
Wadda ya say?

Come Mr Can am show them who is boss!!! Im up for it if you are!
Just had a look at the website there is a 103dB limit so I might strugle with that. What with me and my 117dB output. But yes I would love to take part so I'll see what I can do to quieten my car down.

Any pics to go with that?
Sounds a nice job there & Ive always like the LS7 since I first saw the Z06.
One point of note for anyone thinking of registering for Fighting Torque:
THERE IS A NOISE LIMIT OF 103db
The noise nazis will ensure this is strictly enforced by static testing on the day, and if your car wont pass, they wont let you run.
Unfortunatly Colin has his hands tied by more red tape every year, and this limit is now being trumpeted in the Eco friendly camp (w*nkers) as necessary to preserve dandelions or something.

That's my engine on Peter's website

You will see I have also had different cam covers fitted and relocated the ugly coil packs to under the inlet manifold.
I don't know what my noise is but it was bloody loud on the dyno and I don't need cats because emiisions exempt on the log book. Sounded like the Vettes at Le Mans last weekend.

That looks very nice indeed.
Re the noise, Woodbridge is like all motorsport venues in that noise regs are now mandatory. Its the local council that decides this. Last year we had a non public acces working military base, so didnt have the same regulations.
At an airfield, if you have ever stood next to a jet on take off - ask yourself how this idiotic bunch of pen pushers can assume that a car is noisier and more antisocial than a jet.

no one is going to get in under the 103 db without exhaust silencer modifications, mine according to the chap who did my mot is 110db at least.
i wonder what the factory 720 is?? it would be nice to see that run Richard!!
Nice idea Kyle but the factory don,t do these type of events you get far to much free publisity and good press !!!!i wonder what the factory 720 is?? it would be nice to see that run Richard!!

David, would you like the Trophy posted to you now, so you can get your name engraved before the event?? :wibble:
There is always the driver factor to consider though !
Actually I'm still having G50 gearbox probs so the car is still not running on the road. I ordered a whole new stronger gear set with different ratios that has had to go back to the US because there were problems with tooth mesh on over run.
Perhaps I should just bite the bullet and go sequential
