this is kinds intresting....

the ford guys have been running 'supercharged as standard' engine for a while now. they are VERY strong. the Cobra guys are pushing over 1000bhp out of bone stock bottom ends! this takes the p!ss out the LSx engine where pushing over 700bhp is classed as living on borrowed time!

so could this 6.2ltr be the answer??

Chris.

It'll be expensive when/if it's a crate.
It's basically a smaller displacement LS7 with a supercharger.
Like ls7 it has Ti rods, forged crank, dry sump, it also gets forged pistons.
I'm doing a twin turbo version of the LS9 soon, gathering the bits now.
Chris where do you get the LS is on borrowed time at 700hp?
1000 hp is as reliable as a rock.
Thanks

Hey Jeff, are you planning to do a supercharged LS7? You mentioned before that it'll be difficult to get it to 800+ hp. Can it be done and would the price be cheaper than a LS7 TT? I was just wondering because it seems like American Speed kept on delaying the release of the supercharged LS7 800hp. Could it be that their having a hard time getting amount of hp out of the LS7 with a sc?

No plans for a SC LS7 for an Ultima application at this time. In order to get boost on a 7 Liter that breaths to 7500 rpm you need a lot of airflow. Options are twin Rotrex or big ProCharger, neither will fit well in a stock Ultima, both take about 200 hp to drive and require a wide belt in front of the accessory belt drive. (so you dont tear up alt, wp bearings) Which won't fit. The top mounted SC units currently available dont flow enough air for more than about 750.
We already have twin turbo kits, small turbos for instant torque, similar to a SC, 900-1000 hp or bigger ones for 1000-1200hp.
This GM LS9 with SC is about 620 hp on a 6.2L, my guess, if and when it becomes available as a crate engine, is it will be about $9000 more than a LS7 crate engine. It also has another belt drive that may make it too long to fit in an Ultima without chopping the bulkhead.
I'm working to get the cost down on a 1000hp TT.

Thanks

Shame, I'd have been a willing crash test dummy for anyone (reputable) wanting to give it a shot. frown

Do I read into this that Mr Dunn has found more than can be fixed by the tooth fairy?

I don't think that the Lucky engine has been started on yet. I believe a lightly mad man from Cookham may be first in the engine build!

He hasn't had a chance to look - but let's face it, with the grief that the engine is gonna get in 2008, I better have a replacement for 2009!!

So Brian's nipped in there before me again hey, oh well. Nay mind.

Your not wrong Jeff! I had to cut a large hole in the bulkhead and make the panel below to get my D1SC ProCharger to fit in my Can-Am. But am I glad I did it, you bet I am! biggrin
