swapping water pump
Discussion
Can anyone help - what is the third hole below the mounting bolts on one side for?
I am swapping the water pump from one engine to another. On one engine the third hole below the two mounting bolts is blocked off by the gasket and on the other it is open.
Should this hole be open or closed off? What is it for?
Cheers,
Martin.

Don't worry about it! Some gaskets come open some closed. It just a throw back in the casting no longer used. I always use a thread sealer like loctite 572 on the bolts threads as some of the bolts enter the block water jacket.
