Hi guys

Looks like my budget will not stretch to building a GTR. So will be saving the pennies for a few years and then will let rip. One question though. What is the difference between the sport and GTR? Is it just the body or has the chasis changed at all?

My understanding is they are basically the same under the skin. I expect there may be some slight body mount bracketry differences. Again there will be some differences if it is a Rover V8/Renault 'box combo.
It is less likely to have uprated brakes but then probably doesn't need them.

My GTR has a Sport chassis.

The only changes required to allow the body fit were an enlarged radiator "cage" on the front, different mounting brackets for the rear clip and a couple of brackets to locate the ends of the door gas rams. These changes were done free of charge by the factory.

My car is the one featured in the "GTR Body Fit" photos on the company web site. All the important bits of the Sport and GTR chassis are the same.

Didn't ask before so why the question about the Sports?

If your thoughts are along the lines of buying second hand and the Sports being cheaper but perhaps a lesser vehicle that should be avoided then don't worry. I, and many others, still believe the Sports to be a very nice looking car with no less performance capability than the GTR. It was my first love and was still available when I bought the GTR but the GTR just had the edge over it on styling but only just.

My thoughts was to buy a sports as although they dont pop up as often they are a little cheaper than GTR's. I was then going to put a GTR shell on (I like the rear better) and then sell the sports shell.

However I have a few more years to save yet as I am only 23 and would never get the insurance frown Will be looking when I am nearer 30

Actually, that would probably cost more than buying a GTR in the first place. smile
